This style of King nutcracker is common to more than a few makers, with only minor differences between them. You'll also see giant-sized kings of this design, standing outside East German crafts shops and in giant pyramids in Christmas markets.
This unfortunate 13 5/8-inch Hodrewa King was missing its nose and its feet. The nose of the larger Hodrewa nutcrackers was a wedge cut from a turned disk. I used the nose of the HoDreWa Guard as a model. The trickiest part of reproducing it was figuring out the radius of the disk based on a small nose section. With careful cutting, the factory may have been able to get 5 or even 6 noses from each disk.
